♪ Calming music plays ♪ – All of us at the
Children’s Readiness Center are indeed very proud of each
and every one of our students and their families, but
today, I’m exceptionally proud to introduce Kamari Young to all of you. Kamari is all of 9 years of age and this is his fourth year at the Children’s Readiness Center. Kamari has worked very very hard and he’s learned a great deal. He enjoys being with the staff at the Children’s Readiness Center and cares about all of them
as well as all of his peers. We would all like to congratulate Kamari on being the George Farber winner for the Children’s Readiness Center. – I nominated Kamari because
of all the progress he has made not only academically
but socially as well. This year, he has worked
a lot on understanding what kind means, and helping
his friends in the classroom as well as doing something
nice for someone in the school once a week. Seeing a smile on their face
really makes me so happy and that’s really great to see. This year, he has worked on expressing his wants and needs appropriately. He’s now able to count
to 10, tell his teachers why he’s upset and take deep breaths. I’m really proud of all the hard work he has not only made this year but throughout his time at CRC and it really has been a
pleasure to watch him grow. – My name’s Kamari, I like writing, I like helping my friends,
and I like playing gym. Thank you for my award. – I’m so pleased to be able to introduce the George Farber Award winner for the Jerusalem Avenue
School for 2019, Jared Bey Jared is a terrific young man, he began his career at
Nassau BOCES last September. He came to us with openness, he wanted to learn and he has done so
exceptionally well in school. He’s a very diligent young man, he takes his time with his work, he makes sure that he’s doing a good job. He has been so kind and considerate
to all of his classmates he is just such a wonderful role model for us to have within our program. We are so proud of all the accomplishments that Jared has made this past year. – I nominated Jared because
he’s an outstanding student he has made incredible
growth since he came to us this past September. When he first came to us, we could tell that he was a kind person,
but he was very quiet and reserved. Within the first week
of school, he came to me and he said, “Miss
Caravello, you seem nice, “but are you going to become mean?” and in that moment, I realized that he wasn’t all that quiet, he just wanted to make sure that he
could trust the people he was now with in this new school. So, once he realized that we
all do have his best interest in mind, he became much more open with us, he showed us how funny, how
smart, how sweet, how caring and how determined he is. He is just a remarkable student, he tries very hard in his academics and we’re so so proud of how
he uses his past experiences to gain personal strength, and use that strength to help others So, we’re very proud of him. – I like the teachers and I like gym and I like art club and I
also like to run, run, run in track I’m kind and I stand up to bullying. My favorite things to do in school are P.E, track, art club and ELA. I’m most proud of receiving
the George Farber Award. – We are so proud to have
Matthew as our recipient for the George Farber Award this year. He is a breath of fresh
air for Willet Avenue. We are so happy that he has grown so much, he has made so much
progress both academically, socially, emotionally. He has formed wonderful
relationships with his peers and staff, and everyone here
at Willet knows Matthew. He has an amazing family
that we know will support him and that his future will
be bright, incredible and he will achieve everything
that his heart desires. He will surely be missed, and congratulations, Matthew. – Matthew Schweizer was
nominated for George Farber because he’s consistently improved over the last couple of years, academically, emotionally, physically, he’s been fantastic. He’s a student you wanna
have in your homeroom he’s a student you want in your classroom and he overcomes obstacles daily and to sum Matt up, when he was told that he was nominated for
this, he was a little nervous, when he was told that he won,
his hands went to his mouth and he said, “Oh my, I have the shivers, “I can be a role model” and that’s who Matt wants to be, and that’s who he’s been
working towards being and he’s been able to get there with the support of Willet Avenue and the support of his parents and Matt wants to be
better, and it’s been great to see him over the last
couple of years become better and we’re glad he’s successful
and continues to be so. – [Staff] Congratulations
Matthew, we’re so proud of you I’m creative and very I’m very creative and I’m very intelligent in a lot of subjects. I feel like my whole family is going to be really proud of me I’m very proud of getting
really good grades in my classes all year long. I’m excited about my
application to Iris Wolfson and I hope I’m going to get accepted. – So we are very excited
to nominate Elizabeth for the George Farber award,
she has really been such a fantastic amazing student
since she’s been here. She’s only been with us for four years which is actually a short time
for our Carman Road students but in those four years,
she has progressed so much and she has worked so
hard, and that is why we are so excited to talk about her today and to nominate her and really
give her this award today. Through her real hard
work and determination and her funny personality,
she really worked with her therapists and her teachers and everyone here just adores her and she worked so hard to
really get to where she is now and she’s walking through the building, playing jokes on the staff,
making everyone smile and laugh. She is just really one of those students that you just wanna run
over to and be with all day because she makes you feel great. We are so happy to have
her win this award. – She’s in my class this
year and I’m happy to say that she’s walking without her walker, she’s walking independently, she tells me her wants and needs. She is a classroom helper, she’s always helping around the class, she loves to be the teacher’s helper. She’s very humorous. If you leave your glasses
around, you turn around they’re on her face. If I leave my water bottle
around, she’d hide it on me she’s got a great sense of humor. She loves to help her peers, she gets very upset if they’re upset she will go over and calm them down. She loves playing games with them, she loves helping them with work she’s made so much progress, she likes to work independently I’m just very proud of how she’s doing from when she started. – I love Carman Road. – Oneil was selected as the George Farber Outstanding Student Award here at Seaman Neck Middle School simply because he is probably one of the
kindest people that I’ve ever met that we’ve all ever met,
and he is a role model for all the other students
who are in the building and he has been for the
past couple of years and we’re so proud of him and he actually is going to be returning to district this year after this year is over, and
I’m gonna miss him so much because he has just this radiant smile that is contagious and
helps all of us here. – Oneil is a student that you come across once or twice in a career,
and he’s this young man of such depth and insight
and perspective in life that it makes it just
a joy to work with him. He’s kind, he’s compassionate he’s aware of blessings
that he’s been given I mean, he shares that with other people. He’s always quick to
volunteer to give of himself to other people, and he doesn’t
notice how awesome he is which is amazing. – I am so proud of Oneil Burke he is so deserving of this award, he’s every teacher’s dream, he’s really just wonderful kid all around everybody is happy to know him and we’re very proud of
you Oneil, way to go. – The staff at Seaman Neck Middle School, they have helped me a lot, they let me do things and they tell me, oh you could do it, you could strive for it and I said, okay I really like that about Seaman Neck Middle School. I’m going back to district
next year, 10th grade and I’m really happy because it could change my whole entire life, and get like scholarships,
play football, get awards and I could help my mom out. I like to make videos and draw and do art and I like to clean because
I like to help my mom out at home, and cook for her. So yeah, that’s what I really like to do. – Wilfredo is one of our
more versatile students. He is currently our class president, he’s a member of our art club, he’s also a member of our glee club. Wilfredo is also as we’ve been stating our news anchor for the last two years for our RKS morning news. He is well known around the building people recognize him and say, “There is the student that’s on the news” and they really appreciate
hearing from him everyday and how he delivers the news and how he conducts himself really emulates what it
means to be an RKS student – Wilfredo is a very
quiet, reserved young man but once you get to know him, he is thoughtful and kind. He is respectful of his peers and adults and he just embraces school. He comes to school everyday
and he wants to work and he works hard, and
he’s passionate about it and he’s passionate about school. So, I just thought that
for all those qualities, he would be the best representation for Rosemary Kennedy. – I like doing the morning announcements. I like doing three specials
like art, music and gym. Winning this award makes
me happy, thank you. I’d like to thank my
teachers and my family. ♪ Calming music plays ♪
