Healing with Art and Music

Healing with Art and Music

Art and Music Therapies are Serious Treatment,
with a Human Touch. Whether it’s a roomful of teens learning
to make music together…an outdoor painting session, even a karaoke party…the use of
art and music to treat people with addiction or behavioral disorders is no longer an alternative
therapy. It’s an important part of a structured treatment program, practiced by highly trained
professionals. Medical science has long recognized the value
of art to help people manage their problem behaviors, increase their self-esteem, develop
social skills, and reduce stress. Researchers have linked the experience of listening to
music with measurably lower anxiety, higher levels of immunoglobin antibodies, and the
stimulation of the brain’s reward centers and pleasure responses. It’s the human element that guides the serious
field of study…one that uses the uniquely human processes of art and music, to reach
across the divides of distress, disorder, and distrust. To discover composition from
chaos, and seize harmony from discord. To learn more about Art/Music Therapy, visit
