instruction.>>My name is Brianne Toledo and I am a student
at the University of Central Oklahoma. My major is studio art and my passion is in metalsmithing.>>Metalsmithing is about the movement of
metal through heating and hammering the metal into the forms that you want or by cutting
the metal into pieces by constructing objects or jewelry and connecting it with solder.>>I think there’s always an element of
challenge which I find thrilling. Testing myself to test my skill level and sort of
strive for more and more skill or better quality in my work.>>The art curriculum is comprehensive.>>There are degree opportunities in art education,
art history, and studio art.>>I’m in the jewelry and metalsmithing

strengthen my art skills.>>The amount of mentorship and guidance and
smaller classrooms.>>The work is very detailed, and you have
to think through the designs to create the pieces.>>The College of Fine Arts and Design provides
opportunities for students to showcase their work.>>For part of our senior capstone class,
we exhibit for the public and this was the first time to have the public come and see
my work.>>The pieces that I designed for my senior
exhibition were certainly a labor of love.>>And then having it on display for the very
first time IAO Gallery which is Individual Artists of Oklahoma here in Oklahoma City,
near downtown. It’s really exciting. It’s really fulfilling to have worked this semester
and have it showcased.>>There’s no doubt I am the artist that
I am today because of the University of Central Oklahoma and the art department, the College
of Fine Arts and Design there. It’s transformed my life. ^M00:03:40:00 [ MUSIC ] ^M00:03:47:00
